YBC Live!--EG Productions Chol HaMoed Pesach 2008 Concert--was a thoroughly entertaining mix of popular fan favorites along with the introduction of new talent and brand new songs. The concert--MC'd by "Tek-Noy's Yossi Sharf--was held in the sold out Colden Auditorium at Queens College; it starred Yeshiva Boys Choir and featured performances by the Chevra, Dovid Stein, Eli Gerstner & Yaakov Mordechai Gerstner. The evening started with a musical overture performed by the Yosis Orchestra conducted by none other than Eli Gerstner himself. Dovid S
tein, EG Productions newest recording artist, took the stage first and sang two songs from his upcoming & much-anticipated album, "Muvtach Lo", which will be released on Rosh Chodesh Elul. He got the crowd going with the title track, "Muvtach Lo", a catchy & upbeat tune, and then switched gears to sing the slower, but quite beautiful and moving, "V'haviosem". He clearly connected with the fans with his down-to-earth & "guy-next-door" stage presence and that, along with his sweet, melodic voice, are sure to make him a rising star on the Jewish music scene. The Chevra followed Dovid Stein and took the stage with the song that catapulted them to superstardom: "Ye'hei." "Lecha" and "Chizku", the title tracks from Chevra2 & Chevra3, respectively, followed in quick succession, and the audience loved it, singing right along with them. One of the highlights of the show--though there were many--was the introduction of a brand-new Chevra song, "Chai Chai Chai"! Fans couldn't get enough of this song so the Chevra came back in the second half to sing it again!!! Eli
Gerstner surely has another hit on his hands with this one! By the time Yeshiva Boys Choir came to the stage to open with the immensely popular "Shabichi", the excitement and Ruach in the auditorium were palpable. Spirited and lively bochurim were dancing in the aisles and things only heated up from that point on! Tamborines jingled for "L'ma'an Da'as", glo sticks shone for "Koli Sh'ma" and beach balls went flying through the air for "Ein." The Choir--under Yossi Newman's exuberant direction--left the crowd clamoring for more by the time intermission rolled around.
The concert's second half featured more excitement and surprises. The entire cast joined together to perform, "Lazer's Niggun", a song that debuted at last year's Chol HaMoed
Pesach concert and is the opening track on the "YBC Live! II" CD & DVD. Much to the audience's delight, Eli Gerstner himself performed a few songs, including "Hi'ney"--the title track from his first solo album--which has never before been performed live in concert and "She'ne'mar", the tremendously popular title track from the "Tek-Noy" album. While Eli was singing "She'ne'mar", the other two members of "Tek-Noy", Yossi Newman & Yossi Sharf, cartwheeled and flipped onto the stage for a quick--but thorougly appreciated--cameo. Eli then briefly took over MC duties from Yossi Sharf to personally intro
duce the evening's next performer: his little brother, Yaakov Mordechai Gerstner, who made his solo debut with "Bir'shus Ha'Torah", a song Eli composed specifically for him. Dressed in a suit & tie and looking very much like a miniature version of his famous brother--who was obviously "shepping Nachas" as he conducted the orchestra--Yaakov Mordechai exhibited charm, poise & maturity--not to mention talent--well beyond his years. The audience was enthralled and acknowledged his performance with lots of cheers & applause. YBC then returned for several more songs including the hearfelt tribute to Gush Katif, "In a Song"--for which Eli Gerstner joined them
--"Booraich", a lively tune in which the boys take turns performing a variety of "wedding" shtick for a "chosson", and for the first time on stage, "Hillel", which was accompanied by incredible dancing and choreography. The evening concluded with a new finale medley of "V'ahavta" and "Kol HaMispallel"; kids from the audience packed the stage to join the Choir--along with the rest of the cast--for the grand finale. Everyone wanted a piece of the evening's excitement! The Simchas YomTov was evident the entire night and was only enhanced with this incredible concert!

I was there, it wasn't sold out, not by a long shot. I think the problem is that all the other concerts have a mix of things for people and the EG concerts are just becoming giant advertising shows for the EG brand. I would rather go see Miami AND Fried then JUST EG productions style music.
Just my opinion.
This concert was so awesome! You didnt give enough credit to the choreography by Hillel Omer, it was unbeleivable- they did really hard steps and every boy did it excatly at the right time! I especially liked the motions by the high part 'ohev shalom v'rodef shalom'. Also, YM Gerstner was sooooooo cute and good!!!!! He's a really good performer!!! I wish they would have videod this concert, it was really good!!!!
And of course a big thank you to Zevi Carlebach and crew....for running events.... And the master event runner pre ticket sales box office event runner N. Schultz and crew.... Guys job well done!!!!
